Yes we disagree about who Obama is, his aims, his goals, his methods.
Such a discussion was exactly my intention.
RonadRonaldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06894911763711058827noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30603050.post-62576421195303279582012-05-27T22:30:05.126-04:002012-05-27T22:30:05.126-04:00I think Obama is doing good in his country, but we...I think Obama is doing good in his country, but we have different point of view about Obamas plan and purposes. While your questions and perceptions are important and accurate ones, I can't
help but think that the alternative is far, far worse. If Romney is elected, the downward slide would be absolutely torrential, and this
country would deteriorate very quickly. Obama, with glaring warts and all,
is the best we can do at the moment, and my feeling is that we should do
everything we can do to get him re-elected, and hope for a greater number of Democrats voted into Congress, so that he isn't forced to compromise at
every turn. While I know that much of what you claim is true, I also know that Obama has been handicapped by the Republican majority and Tea Party
attitude, and he hasn't been able to accomplish much of anything he really wanted to. His greatest weakness is his ideology, if not the complete lack of one, and his flimsiness as a leader. If you make people doubt Obama at
this point in the election year, you encourage them to either not vote or vote for Romney, and if Romney wins, your blogs will surely become even more frequent and a lot more vitriolic.

Best,
David
---
Ronald Responds:

Dear David:

And thanks for your response which I find challenging. I don’t know if I ever quite considered that my views would actually change people’s behavior at the polls or anywhere else. I write because I thought people might like to know stuff that I’m interested in finding out. As in this case, I was interested to see what if anything O was doing about the housing disaster and I was blown away to find out the sordid? sorry details.

Yes, we’re between a rock and a hard place with Romney vs O. I don’t know what to do myself much less make suggestions for others. Off the top of my head I said to friends the other night that if it weren’t for the Supreme Court, I’d vote for Romney. (Well not really vote for him, but not vote for Obama—maybe go for the Greens like last time. Yet as far as ideology, I’d guess that in his heart, Romney would actually prefer to do more about the housing crisis than Obama who I’m suspecting more and more is about destruction, just like Cheney. I see Romney more as a businessman than an ideologue. )
***
David Responds to Ronald

Hi Ron:
You shouldn't underestimate the power of well-expressed opinions like yours and the influence they can wield on people's votes. When it comes down to the moment in the voting booth, someone might just think of your reasoning and decide at the last moment to cast either no vote or a vote for Romney...I really don't believe Obama is about destruction, and certainly not on the level of Cheney, who is a truly evil man! Obama may be faltering with wrong moves, and may even be deceptive, but he is not evil, and he is very intelligent and truly caring about others. Romney, I agree, is no ideologue and certainly a businessman above all, but is not smart and cares about no one but himself and money.

Now I'll tell you how I really feel.... :-)

Thanks for taking my comments seriously!

Best,
DavidRonaldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06894911763711058827noreply@blogger.com
